Georgia Women Flyfishers

It was another huge successful year with all participants catching a trout.
Casting For Confidence is a one-day program specifically for breast cancer survivors, provided at no cost to the participants. Georgia Women Flyfishers host a full day of fly fishing instruction, fishing opportunities and general fun and laughter, starting off early with a light breakfast, orientation, and introductions. Participants enjoyed a day learning about the art and science of fly fishing.
Participants learned the basics of flyfishing, including casting, fish food, equipment and knots, fly tying, and ending the day with fishing on the Chestatee with a personal and experienced guide.
At the end of the day everyone shared fish stories, and had a graduation ceremony to celebrate our successes of the day with everyone going back home with a huge smile :-)
Gold Rush TU Family Fun Day

Gold Rush TU Family Fun Day at Frog Hollow was a great success. The weather was fantastic and it appears that everyone had a great time. Just about all the fisherman caught fish. One youngster, Gabriel Wittosch, fished for four hours and said he caught 35 trout, it was quite evident that he was a good fly fisherman.
We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this a success. Pat Pattillo was here early Sunday morning, around 6:00AM to start his pork barbeque which was excellent. Gloria Pattillo was here most of the day collecting money for the auctions, dinner and fishing. I’m not sure she had much of a chance to eat since she was busy most of the day. Sherman Head and his wife Beni Gail made several trips to Frog Hollow with tables and other items necessary for the auctions and dinner. Marge and Fred Ruppel assisted Sherm and Beni Gail with setup and tear down. Anne Ripley held the fort down at barn while some of us had other duties to attend to. We also need to thank those who bought desserts. Yummy stuff

Also thanks to the local merchants and chapter members who provided items for the auctions. Blackstock Winery, Cavender Creek Winery, Tritt’s Sporting Goods, Ace Hardware, and chapter members that provided auction items were Sherman Head, Fred Ruppel, Marge Ruppel, Gloria Pattillo, Pat Pattilo and Rodger Burnisky. If I missed anyone, I apologize.
